What is a Floorcloth?
A Floorcloth is a terrific alternative to a traditional area carpet, when you're looking for something a little different, or when carpet itself just won't do!
I start with a heavy gauge 12 oz. primed canvas, attach the canvas to a stretcher, then hand paint, with acrylic paint. First a base coat, then a texture, then the actual design.
Once painted - and in some cases five to six various layers of paint - I remove the canvas from the stretcher, turn up a hem, and then cover the Floorcloth with four or five coats of polyurethane. This makes the cloth extremely durable. Once the polyurethane is dried, I apply a non-skid finish to the bottom of the Floorcloth so it will safely stay in place.
If your Floorcloth is to be used somewhere you'll be standing for long periods of time, I can also add a cushion to the bottom. Your Floorcloth will be ready for you to place anywhere. It's extremely durable and very easy to care for! It can even be cleaned with a damp mop and light detergent, as if you were washing the floor.
A Floorcloth can also very practical. If you are looking to add alittle more character to any of your floors, but the height of standard carpet makes it difficult to use a wheelchair or a walker, a Floorcloth is a beautiful alternative.
